Q: Why Scotland?

A: Intially we planned to get married at the Little Brown Church. Before the planning had really even gotten underway, we were having problems with it. Heather's mom jokingly suggested eloping in Vegas and that gave us the idea for a destination wedding. We decided it would be cool to do it in England since that is where we had planned to go for the honeymoon. Their 15 day waiting period quickly changed our minds and we came up with the next best thing, Scotland! They had no waiting period and a lot of castles that were even neater than those in England.

Q: Where did you find the information?

A: We found all of the information for our wedding and honeymoon online. There are lots of online sources about traveling to the UK and about destination weddings. Once we booked the cottage where the families are staying for the week, we were put in touch with a wonderful lady who offered to help with the planning. We email her with requests, ideas, etc. and she calls people and checks things out. It saves us the huge phone bills!

Q: Isn't this expensive?

A: The wedding itself isn't costing any more than a wedding in the United States would and in some ways is cheaper. The castle that we are getting married in provides the flowers, music, minister and one nights lodging for the bride and groom at a very reasonable price. The only major cost was the tickets and my travel agent at the Travel Co. in Coralville got us a really good deal at less than $500 each (including the international taxes), round trip!!!

Q: Where are you registered?

A: We are registered at Target and at Sears. At Sears be sure to look under April weddings because at first that was when we were going to have the wedding. If asked the wedding location, please look under the state of Iowa since Scotland wasn't an option.

Q: Where will you live after the wedding?

A: For the time being we will still reside in Coralville at 2042 Ninth St #82. This is good news for our parents who are tired of our moving and are running out of room for new listings in their address books.

Q: Are you going to wear a kilt?

A: No. As far as we know, nobody in our party is going to wear a kilt. The only kilted person at the wedding will be the piper.

Q: Are you getting excited/nervous?

A: We were until we got asked this question so many times. Now we just want to scream at people.

Q: So you're getting married, huh?

A: Yep
